MIHN Hosting

16 Mar 2008 - 4:00pm

Starting at 4PM, on Sunday March 16th through Easter Sunday at 4PM, Pilgrim Church will be serving as hosts to the families of the MIHN. As always thank you to those of you who have volunteered your time, talents, donations and financial support approximately every 10 weeks over the past 4 years. To our new and returning members at Pilgrim Congregational Church, learn more about this important faith based mission that helps families in transition. Pick up an information brochure in Fellowship Hall, log on to www.mihnetwork.com or chat with some of our longtime volunteers-Cherie Rivera, Bonnie Hathaway or Eric Kristoff- just to name 3. MIHN is supported by 11 churches in Northern Worcester County. They include, in Fitchburg: St. Anthony’s, St. Bernard’s, St. Joseph’s, Church of the Good Shepherd, Christ Church, First Parish Unitarian Universalist ; in Lunenburg: Faith United Parish (Lunenburg), In Leominster: Assembly of God, Our Lady of the Lake, Leominster United Methodist Church and our very own Pilgrim Church.

Each week that a church hosts the families, the Church lines up 2 volunteers for weekday evenings from 5 to 9 pm, meal volunteers to prepare and deliver hot meals by 5:30 pm (because there aren’t any cooking facilities at the program), 1 or 2 overnight volunteers to sleep at the program from 9pm to 7am and finally several weekend volunteers to cover Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon at 4. During this season of Lent, please prayerfully consider if you some time available to help a child with homework, to lend an ear, or to just be a quiet presence. Sign up sheets can be found on the Opportunity Table in Fellowship Hall. You could also help out going to the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall, grabbing a shamrock, buying the item listed, then placing that item in the blue MIHN box located in the Narthex.
